May flowers and sneezes

The first part of May we are in Sparks, Nevada. We stopped for fuel at the local Petro truck stop and what did I see but....

this tractor and trailer. The amount of money they put into these trucks is amazing. I enjoy looking at them as we go down the road, because it breaks up the monotony of the road.

What I do find interesting is the different rock formations across the Untied States. This one, in Northern Nevada, would make a great subject for a painting. Maybe one day I will get out my oils and attempt to do the picture justice.

The ribbon of roads seem to go on forever. Even along the roadways, there are smaller roads that have their own names. This one, Bar Hat Road caught my eye. How do they ever come up with such names as this? There are two roads in Texas that we laugh at whenever we pass them. One is , This Way and you go down a block and the next one is called That Way. Someone who named these roads had to have a sense of humor.

We are in Idaho and the mountains are still covered with snow. There is something to be said about the mountains and snow. I love to see the beauty of snow capped mountains, but not have to experience the cold that goes with the snow. Soon we will be in the mountains of Colorado. There are states that say their mountains are the best, as in beauty. I think that all mountains are beautiful in their own way. However, I am partial to the mountains of the West.

A few days have passed and we are now back in Oregon. There are so many quaint towns on the back roads that we go through.

The old buildings that line Main Street take you back in time. This where new meets old and they can co-exist.

The small town rodeos are the best to go and watch. The locals get into the spirit of the Old West and even the visitors from out of town can get into the swing of things at the dance.

Getting up at O'dark thirty,( actually it was 4:50 a.m.Pacific Time) has it's advantages. You can see the waining moon covered by the cold mist.

You could almost picture a vampire, werewolf or a mummy coming out of the mist. With the moon full, it could almost be true. Then again...

you are just as apt to see a man in the moon, or is that on the moon?. Or would you find that the moon looks like blue cheese? One's imagination is the only limit as to what could or couldn't be.

The Oregon farmland is so green this time of the year. Everything is green and greener. When you find yourself in Oregon or Washington State, the main color is GREEN. There are so many different shades of green that it boggles the mind. If there is a little hint that I don't care for "Green" you are right. I am a desert rat and love to see different colors in the landscape.

As we drove closer to the coast of Oregon, the mountains and trees became different from what we had previously seen.

But, then again there are still trees and more trees.

As we crossed into California, the hills and mountains took on a different hue. There was golden colors mixed in among the green and shades of brown of the landscape.

As the sunsets, so shall I.  Until the next time remember to be happy and keep the distance.
