April Showers?

The first part of April found us in the city of Dubuque, Iowa. I never thought about the city being on the Mississippi River, but here is the proof.

The churches are so beautiful in this area of the country. They are from years gone by. The modern day buildings cannot compare to the ones that were built 30 years ago or more.

April brings showers, and a lot of fog on the rivers. It was a little erie, to see the tug boat coming out of the mist. Reminds me of the movie "The Fog", with Janet Leigh and her daughter, Jammie Lee Curtis. Come to think of it, that was a good movie. Every once in a while it will be on the old movie channel, on TV.

After crossing the bridge, we found ourselves in Wisconsin. One of my classmates lives in this state, but we haven't been able to get close enough to where she lives to visit. Maybe one day.

Back to Iowa, we go. The town of Clarence, Iowa was interesting. The businesses were multi-faceted. One business you could get insurance, greeting cards, dry cleaning, and photo processing. One stop shopping, almost. At least they try to cover all the bases, to make a living.

Clarence, in the heart of eastern Iowa's richest agricultural land, is a friendly community located on Highway 30 which is also the historic Lincoln Highway and is the City's main street. The Union Pacific Railroad runs parallel to the highway, Interstate 80 is 20 miles south, and the Mississippi River is 50 miles east

Not only are there farms there are other types of businesses. As we passed by this one, I wasn't sure what it was all about. Is it an auto repair shop or a used car lot? Then there is the heavy equipment in the corner

Even the signage on the front of the building, couldn't explain exactly what they did. One of the many mystery's of the road, I guess.

One of the stops we made was to feed the truck, (get fuel) and wash the windows. Tom does a great job, so that I can take my pictures. Sometimes, the bugs hit the windows before I can take my pictures, but then again that is why there is window washing fluid.

Traveling down the road you are apt to see just about anything. This convoy took me by surprise and I found out something. The military does have "student driver" training. Now I am not sure as to what he is driving, but it sure looks like a missile launcher to me. But then again, I have a great imagination.

Soon we will be heading home for a few days, and I will be ready to relax.

IT has been a few days since I "Blogged", but as I said before we are heading home. We are crossing our fingers, that we will be there in time for our Grandson's, Jobe, birthday. They do grow up fast.
The morning we were going across New Mexico and the snow on the mountains was breathtaking. There is something about the desert that the beauty can change with the seasons and weather. One time we travel and the mountains will be almost purple in color, after a rain storm. Then the next time they will be on fire, with reds and orange colors.

We made it home and met the family for Jobe's birthday.

We all went to a place called the Sky Zone. It is a huge trampoline. There is different sections for the kids to jump in and play. They charge by the hour, or blocks. One thing for sure the kids are "tired puppies" when they get home from this place. No worries about them going to sleep, this night.

It is nice that my son, Joshua will get out and play with his boys. He is a big one at heart.

Jonah, our youngest grandson thinks he is Spider man or a Fly on the wall. He isn't afraid to try anything. But, one thing for sure, if he doesn't like it, you will know about it in a hurry.
It almost appears as if Joshua, it clicking his heels, while doing a Irish jig.

Fun was had by one and all. It was a good evening spent with lots of laughter and a few groans thrown in. Family is what life is all about.
