continuing with the journey

The gorge is just a taste of the beauty I see while on the road. As we continue on I-15 we will turn right onto I-70 E to Colorado, but before we arrive in Colorado there is still beauty to behold.

Whenever I see the American flag flying in the wind, I like to take a picture of it.  It just reminds me of the freedoms that every American has and how fortunate we are to live in America.

As we continue on I-70 the mountains change.  The colors today were beautiful.  As we pass through the small towns along the way, I wonder how they came to be.  The pioneers that came across the Plains in wagons and handcarts had to be some very tough and persevering people.

I can picture the American Indians riding on their ponies seeking food and making sure that no one infringes on their territory.  Living off the land must have been very hard to do back in the days of yore.

Waking up everyday to the majesty of the mountains to me would be wonderful.  But, how many of us live in areas that are just as beautiful as this picture and we don't appreciate it?
The rugged desert appearing terrain can be daunting and beautiful at the same time.  When I have traveled and seen the flat land of Nebraska or Oklahoma I appreciate the beauty of the desert.

Can you picture the rugged cowboy sitting astride his horse looking towards the mountains and wondering how he is going to get to them?  What perils will he have to face, before he reaches the mountains in the distance?  Is the trek worth the safety of him ?  Now days we never think of those things.  We see something and just drive to it.  Not thinking of the how the road or trail came to be, so that we could enjoy the beauty.

The lone tree in the middle of nothing is a stark contrast to what is around it.

I wonder how the rock formations came to be.  Were they made from Gods chisle?

The beauty I see everyday is breathtaking.
We are going to stop for awhile and take a break and stretch our legs.  Soon we will be running along the Colorado River and that will be interesting.  Until then, we will see you On the Other Side.
