Off to Northern Texas

Northern Texas
We were crossing a bridge and this old trestle was along the side. It is interesting to see how things were built years ago and to find them still standing. It would be a shame to tear something like this down, and lose some of our history.
Then on the other side of the bridge I saw this houseboat. I made the picture a little bit larger than the others, because I saw something on the back of the boat that you would usually find in the yard of a home..Yep..a trampoline. Someone was thinking when they put this on the back of the boat. Now they can just jump up and into the water. I wonder if it is just an adult that lives here or if there are also children living here too.
Once again we find ourselves going down Main Street, Americana. Some cars even park on the sidewalk. Only in a small town, could this occur.

As we were leaving town and getting on the Interstate there was a back up of traffic. While we were waiting for the traffic to start moving we saw the reason why.

This is one reason why everyone should give the "Big Rigs" the respect that they need. A truck this size cannot stop on a dime, like a car. It takes a lot more distance to stop, for most of the trucks are fully loaded and the max they can carry in pounds in 80 thousand pounds.
There was at least a two hour backup on the interstate due to the accident.

Even the water is looking dry. This green slime is where mosquitoes live and breed. This year they say that the bugs will be quite bad, because the winter was so mild and it didn't get cold enough to freeze the bugs.

This was outside of a hamburger fast food place. It reminds me of the old Whimpy's burger stands, of years gone by.

Now we see a lot of different modes of transportation, and this helicopter was one of them. I assume that he has it along of those times the traffic gets too much, so when time is a factor he/she can just pull to the side of the road, park the truck and take off in the helicopter. No fuss no muss. One way to beat the traffic jams on the roadways.

And then you have the farm tractor heading down the road with motorcycle riders bringing up the rear.

As we head to Iowa, once again you see some sights that you won't forget anytime soon. I am sure the couple that rented this won't forget it either. For the Lime-Ozene, party bus has a Just Married sign in the back window. Years later the couple can talk about the big green bus they used to get away.
And then again they might have the bus to take the wedding party to the tractor pull just down the street and here comes...
the father of the bride. He had a few fields to plow before he could make it to the church. Not having much time, he decided to just drive the tractor to the wedding. Now I am not sure if this was a case or not, but it makes for a good story.

Then they could be heading for the Daybreak Cafe for the reception. It even has a "redneck" doorbell right next to the door.
Don't mind the bugs on the side of the truck door. We went through a bunch of bugs earlier in the day. Soon it will be time to take the truck through the wash. The company will only allow a truck wash every six weeks. I guess they hope at sometime during this period it will rain. Ya, right. So if you see a big red truck going down the road with a lot of bugs on it, wave, for it might be me and my husband.

We see many a accident while on the road.  This one has me scratching my noggin.  For the life of me, I can't figure out what happened here.  The right front fender is all smashed in, but the back of the trailer on the left side is all gone.  .
Now if it had tipped over one side or the other would have been damaged, but opposite sides? Oh, well another one for the question book

Soon we will be heading home for a few days of rest.  I can't wait to see my grand kids and have some time with my family and friends.

We stopped at Railroad Pass and saw our friend Debbie.  She is a hoot and a great person.  She always has a smile for you or something to say..
Everyone there is as nice as can be from  Security , housekeeping, restaurant and front desk. That is why we like to come back time after time.
Here we are at the end of June and July is before us.  What will the next month bring?  Only the Shadow Knows.  That saying dates me quite well.  Remember the old radio program, The Shadow?
It is time to go and play so, I will close and try to catch up with the travels in the next week.  Until then, I'll see you on the Otherside.
